My latest visit to Institute Aesthetic had me extremely excited! I was finally going to have long hair again…
As a teenager I had long hair, and tons of it, but as I got older I developed an underactive thyroid and then stupidly cut my hair quite short. It never grew long again and it thinned out dramatically. So began my endless quest for longer hair! I’ve tried everything, nothing changed, and I’ve had extensions before that drove me insane and I took them out within 2 weeks of getting them. Tash, my lovely stylist, assured me that the Easihair Pro extensions were amazing and that I’d be obsessed with them in no time.
First things first I needed some sort of brazilian treatment so my hair would be in a similar condition to the extensions. Zelna, my other stylist for the day, recommended that I do something called Plastica by Inoar, instead of the usual straightening brazilian. It’s applied in exactly the same way but it is more of a treatment, and it improves the condition of your hair.
The Plastica reduces curl and volume up to 30% and hydrates and replenishes the keratin lost over time. It realigns the protein structure in the hair, adds shine, and the best part is that it makes straight hair sleeker and defines curly hair instead of making you lose the curl.
After my hair had gone from this mess:
to this (blow dried without even using a brush):
My hair was silky, soft and smooth and I was ready for my extensions! I tried my best to sit still but I was so excited that I kept wiggling and bouncing around in the chair.
I even got spoilt with a Morgan Taylor manicure while the extensions were being put in, a treat that I’m now thinking Tash may have used to keep me even more still, ha ha ha, clever stylist!
The Easihair Pro are tape-in extensions and they’re made with 100% Cuticle Intact Remy human hair. They come in a range of colours, mine are a mix of the Champagne and the Poppy Seed, and are really amazing quality. You have to go in for professional maintenance and upkeep every 6-8 weeks, where they reapply the same hair, and then after about 4 – 6 months (depending on how well you look after them) you’ll need to get completely new hair extensions.
Check out all this lovely hair!
It’s been 2 weeks since I got the hair extensions and I am completely in love with them! The first wash is a bit terrifying but if you’re careful and you follow the instructions it gets quicker and easier each time. My biggest concern about having these extensions was how uncomfortable they would be. The last time I tried extensions (very different from these) they pulled my hair, I had a constant dull headache, and sleeping on it was beyond uncomfortable. This time? I don’t even feel them, and sleeping on them is a dream.
Thank you to all these lovely ladies for transforming me, and for making it so fun too! If you’d like to read about more amazing hair “magic” from this salon, click here.
I love having hair extensions, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go back to my usual six-strand hairdo… I went away this last long weekend and, with minimal effort, looked like I had spent hours on my hair each morning. I swear I brushed my hair for less than 10 seconds. Hair extensions for the win!
